It has been reported that the four-term Delegate from Ngarchelong State, Kerai Mariur, will be Toribiong's running mate. (Tia Belau, April 18 - 24, 2008)

Congratulations to KMechuit a fish.

I don't really much about Kerai other than him being a Delegate for Ngerchelong. Has he being accused of any fraud or anything that may jeopardize my opinion of him? Now a days, it's hard to trust anyone else associated with the rest of the scums. I'm leaning toward JT but have not made up my mind for sure yet.

It has been reported that Del. Kerai Mariur had a case of misconduct in public offcie against him in which he paid $8,500.

Why can't JT or Chin choose wisely? Could'nt they both pick someone without a record for VP? How hard can it be?

Although there were many other members of the congress that were charged with the same charges at about the same time, I wonder why is it that Chin and JT can't choose those other members that have been trustworthy? Besides Surangel, I believe that Otto, Dengokl and Idechong are very attractive and capable candidates for the VP!!!???!!

KM is a relative and from the same place as I, however, besides being out spoken, I'm just not confident that he is ready for this position yet.

I will wait and see the rest of the candidates team up and see their platforms before I decide on what team to vote for.

Just my view!

In a Saipan Tribune article in 2006, Senator Alan Seid said that he believes, in any society, criminals should not be accepted as welcome guests. Talk about having a double standard. LOL Its still a NO for Chin/Seid and NOW a NO for JT/KM!

Hideous Kinky... What a name...Do'nt be too hard on yourself, LOL,
Do tell us more about this article... I thought it said idiots should not be accepted as welcome guests, not in any society, but only at Omdui's. And it had your name on it. Not true? Mada kamsodau. LOL!
Thanks for the laugh.

I dont know, I believe no one is perfect but at least someone can be trusted like CHIN, always believe in retire soldiers, trustworthy and hard workers are the ones we need, people!
B KER FOOL!

Alaina don't botch conceptual insight for actual realization. LOL There is no free lunch for this hardworking palauan. Senator Seid has a criminal record so he should not be running for VP. Its a NO for Chin/Seid.

After watching the interview of JT that was hosted by OTV which was conducted by my friend and classmate Mr. Joe Aitaro and Mr. Haruo Wilter, I found JT's views on our government very knowledgeable mainly in the past unto now. Although his plans for the future were not very specific and into details, I took that his plans were realistic and the much needed unity among our elected, appointed and traditional leaders was an essential task to form, as he stated.

I hope that he'll be able to be specific and into detail when it comes to his plans and execution on the issues of health care insurance, taxes, pension, minimum wage, government, education, economy, safety and environment. He briefly discussed these issues with the two gentleman, when he was asked.

His knowledge and plans seemed optimistic and attractive, however, I await to see who'll be his running mate and what he/she will say in regards to these issues.

If KM is the chosen running mate, I would ask that he be interviewed as well so we may get an understanding of his views, knowledge and plans in regards to the issues stated above.

I thought Mr. Haruo Wilter did an outstanding job interviewing JT and I was glad that he agreed to interview other candidates as well.

I hope we all keep our minds open until all the candidates have been teamed up and fully express in details their views, knowledge and plans for our government, home and people now and into the future.

Perhaps surveys should be conducted in regards to knowledge, trust, and experiences.

Sulang!

i like KM. i like the fact that he is on the opposing side of TR and new house leadership. this goes to show that loyalty to your peers counts when in the end you will be judged by strength of character.

Everyone keeps forgetting or fashionably omits from their memories that both Chin and JT are part of this administration. Now take a look and revisit all your past comments. I am sure from left to right, there are stinging indictments of Tommy Remengensau Jr failure to deliver as president. So if your feelings have been or were so strongly opposed to TR then how can you support either Chin or JT. As the saying goes, the apple does fall far from the tree. Besides, the running mates of both Chin and JT have crime records. Is this who you want to represent you?
Go back to Seid's words when he said that in any society, criminals should not be accepted as welcome guests. If this is what he thinks then what does it mean for the rest of us because obviously the statement does not apply to him. Its a NO for Chin/Seid and JT/KM!!!!!

@hideous kinky.
if you are referring to KM's settlement w/ the SP, then my previous post still stands. i would liken that "criminal record" to having to settle with Visa. i know there are obvious holes in this example, but the way i see it is, you give a credit card to a newbie, ask him to keep records of all transactions, then change the company CEO and he has you audited before you knew what hit you. just like many micronesians going to college who get stuck paying off a credit card debt. such meticulous file keeping was not a forte of the ole OEK.

this is not a good defense, but i would figure it was the reality at the time, i am sure that now the filing is top knotch.

Jaks,

Speaker Bells is on his way out @ HOD. Bells should have known or learn from his lengthy experience that OEK-National Congress is arena of politics "art of compromise".

Bells could have cross to senate to lobby and ompromise for all the bills sitting at both houses.

For example, a proposed bill for oil exploration is very clear. Both side of houses can debate the issue of how to reach the oil exploration to benefit Palauan people.

This can be done the same with President S. Whipps to cross to the HOD to compromise.

Another good example is baseball. We cannot win a game unless we start playing until the game is over and one win. Both houses should start conferencing until they reach the compromise.

We they are the highest paid and less less work.

Stop the hate and start working us Palauans.

Kabong,

lol@ "we they are the highest paid and less less work"

who is "we they", certainly not me, "you them"?

i haven't ragged on the senate, i haven't called them names. i haven't called speaker bells any names, thats not my place to say... what is Tony Bells motive, why would he say something like this in front of the "Governors Economic Forum". i don't know, but it sounds like he's complaining. complaining to people that don't really play an immediate part in the solution is just complaining, if he really wants thins done sebechel di stroll lekora bital blai or send a memo for a sitdown. kora diak el ngarngii ra rengul e di mle oltutakl el mora wrong crowd, seems like something else is going on.

o.k, folks... party's over

election is OVER!
get it? OVER!

jt and km are in, and there is not a thing or one can say a thing or two about it.

so, let's all rejoice and accept the facts and progress to a new horizon.

eh-lien

How can sail to a new horizon with JT/KM at the helm when they believe that the world is flat! LOL

As flat world thinkers, JT/KM are not interested in new approaches and new attitudes towards governing. Instead, maintaining the status quo and being right are their main goals.

Sorry to say its a NO for Chin/Seid and A bigger NO for those flat world thinkers, JT/KN

Hedeous Kinky,

are you a part or connected to this flat world duo? and their goals? Please elaborate more...

Don't take it personal. Like everyone else, I want to hear, read, and know more details of those vying for the office of P/VP before I conclude.

It would help if you know more info regarding their platform and can share with us in this blog.

my apology for the mispelled name...

Wow,
Kerai Mariur. I was actually looking forward to see who JT will select as his running mate but this really is a disappointment.

All you have to do is look at Mr. Mariur's record in the HOD. Sure he has got a lot of "relatives" from Ngarchelong all the way to Ngchesar.

However, this guy lacks depth of thought and following through on "execution", which I beleive is a REAL weakness now for the JT team.

JT is a conceptual person, much like Alan Seid. I was hoping that he would be able to choose someone who was bright enough, energetic enough, farsighted enough, and wise enough to put JT's platform into a reality.

All the best for these two though and I hope we don't end up with a seriously ridiculous Executive Branch.

Folks,

This is only a conversation until the PEOPLE vote. May the best win because it's going to be a tight race.

Hello mardingaol,

It is true that JT should have chosen a stronger running mate. But I do not think that Palau is ready for a controversial figure. A strong character will always be controversial. That is the nature of the beast! A JT/GJN team would have been ideal because GJN is totally fearless and he would have gone after all the people involved in the PSB bank fraud. GJN would have gone after the culprits who smuggle fish to the Phillippines without paying due taxes to Palau. JGN would have gone after TR, KN, TS, ES for corruption - Do you think Palauans are ready for such a purge? I think not!

JT is simply being cautious. At the end of the day, what is it that is important? The answer is we need a President that is wise and will be able to implement projects that will make Palau self sufficient.

We need a President who has the knowledge to reform laws to make Palau attractive to Foreign Investment.

In both these important areas there is nobody more qualified that Johnson Toribiong so he has my vote!

Realistic Optimistic Man:
I truly beleive that the closure of that fuel for corruption called PSB was the first step in the great purging of our island.

I also beleive that GJN may have been a good choice if it came to getting crap out of our island.

However, GJN has got his own worries so JT wouldn't take the risk.

What I am saying is that JT is a DREAMER. Which is not a bad thing. But he needs a STRONG right hand man to IMPLEMENT. Strong doesn't have to be controversial.

Well, at least we know that Kerai and Johnson will get the Peleliu and Aimeliik votes for sure.

JT is a very smart man but really not good at putting his smarts into a gameplan for implementation. He is old school, run of the mill, say it nice kind of guy. I actually like him, but not as a leader of our country.

Ak milngedecheduch ra tara obekuk eng kmul kmo JT akmal melomes el mla ngiltii a Kerai. Ma kulker er ngii el kmo engerang eng uase a Kerai a diak el di lolab a sengkyo ra Ngerchelong el merkong. Dirrek lolab a sengkyo ra Melkeok me kid el a

On one hand there is my original candidate but with a sly fox dressed in wool as his running mate and on the other is JT with my ideal kind of guy-KM who shares the same religion with me.

Ak remember ra Kerai el kmal kora di mlengii el tang a mle blekebk a medal el melekoi el kirel a omengitel a udoud-pension money to PSB, unbalanced budget, Stimulus fund's disbursement without the approval of the OEK, etc, etc. I believe I blogged on the same KM last summer.

Chin still has time to dump Alan.

Uchel,
Can we ever change how we, Palauans vote? Techedad malechub engchad ra klechelid er kid? What about voting for certain individual who truly can make the difference?

Chad, do you now see what I mean by flat world thinkers? Flat world thinking is not reserved only for politicians.

By the tone and conviction in your past postings on this blog, you are a progressive so why attach yourself to candidates like JT/KM who are not. That is the problem in our country Chad, like India there are too many "sacred cows" in the political hiearchy. LOL

Although I haven't conclude as to whom I'll vote and support, I think that among the candidates, JT is the only one that haven't had the opportunity to show us if he's actually going to do what he says. The rest of the candidates have been put to the test and they've all failed to provide, protect and serve the best interests of our home and people.

Kerai's involvement with the charges stated above was settled and paid back, like the other members of congress that were charged. However, being a member of the congress, he hasn't indicate or introduce any plans in regards to health care insurance, improvements on education, minimum wage, decrease the size of our government and it's expenses, a pension plan for all, taxes and social security. As for the economy, besides JT, they've all failed to execute the economic plan that has been studied on more than one occasion. In regards to the environment, besides JT, they've all showed their support on the Micronesian Challenge and have participated in the current laws to protect our environment and resources.

In the 14 going on 15 years under the compact, our previous and current administration and congress have completely failed in securing a path that our nation can continue to participate in its progress toward a self-funded nation. I must admit that most of the members of our previous and current congress and administration have benefited themselves more in comparison to our home and people.

Should we put JT to the test or should we seek a "write - in party" that the majority of us can trust?

Sulang!

It looks like some of us if not many are split with these candidates. The problem are the running mates. Like what Oketol said, "write-in" might just be an option to think about. What about JT/Surange, Camsek/Surangel/Jt/Camsek or Camsek/JT. Ngidil tang. Just a thought.

Oketol,
I'm with you.
Ak mla chusuch a bek'l beluu ra babeldaob, e ngara Tebedall el mochu ra Uchul a Btaches e omes el mora desbedall ma keiukl el lomelmei el mora iouldaob and this person, (Haruo Wilter) comes to mind as far as the write-in. I've seen this getleman spoken in the US Congress representing us and he is the man I would elect to steer the ROP Ship out of the rough water.
However, should you know some one in Ngerch or Kayangel, please let us know.

Sulang,

Just a thought

And thus the doubt goes on in my mind as to who among these candidates can ensure the promises they have proclaimed to fulfill. On the other hand, Surangel speeches recently touched some of these issues, realities facing the state level. However, some assessments has been concluded by him and others, now, we need to hear some interventions to be addressed by them to see if any can become reality.

I need to stop being a COW and a hideous flat world thinker living in my bubble-filled fantasy world and sail into the horizon with the birds pecking the following words onto my head..... 'Get over the bitterness'. And that's from the tone/conviction of my postings. LOL!!!
You have not looked in the mirror lately, have you? While telling everybody else to do so? Tsk, tsk!

I think we should stop being a "donkey thinkers" who follows directions without any questions. And that's has been our problems for years because of just how we are as Palauans. It is time to voice our concerns and expect results from these leaders to ive up to our expectations, otherwise, the history will likely repeat itself. Kededi melengmes er tir metemocha merau metemo merderd er kid.

For you Hideous Kinky IMPOSTER, "knowing is half your battle" The tactic of writing using another's blog name only exposes your lack of igenuity and your own fear of exchanging your thoughts and reflections with other blog members. Why hide behind Hideous Kinky's blog name? Why not use you own or are you ashamed? or are you just plain scared to match wits? By not responding, you only verify to the others that you've run off to the jungle crying for your mommy! LOL

concerned blogger/Hideous Kinky,
And if you can fight your battles you certainly would not be hiding behind yet another blog name, Right stupido????? Look in the mirror once in a while. LOL

you horny sleazy,

look straight ahead before you crash your arse; jt and km are the team to lean on cause they are in the "brown house" and you know it.

"a flat world thinkers?"

go back into your crawling space and realign your porno world.

HS,

Haruo Wilter is indeed one of the few people that I trust and he definitely has the experiences and knowledge that would benefit our home and people if elected.

It's also important to know that some of our highly educated and well known leaders have failed us when elected due to greed. Remember President Salii? By saying that, I believe that trust is perhaps the most critical subject when considering on who to vote and support.

Here are some individuals that I trust and I'm confident that they will produce and provide positive results and be trusted to represent us if selected to be candidates:

Mr. Haruo Wilter, Mr. Patrick Tellei, Mr. Victor Ucherbelau, Sen. Caleb Otto, Minister Otoichi Besebes and Mr. Noriwo Ubedei.

JT surely has the education and experience and the fact that he hasn't been put to the test, so to speak, will probably get my vote if no one else pops up into the arena. Don't we all wonder how it would have been if his late uncle Roman Tmetuchl was elected?

Chief of Staff Kuartei has my trust, however, issues like abortion and capital punishment when arise would probably serve him conflicts on his judgments due to his faith.

Just my views!

Sulang!

Let us look at the candidates against each other for each particular post.

Chin Vs. Toribiong
Seid Vs. Mariur

I can stop at this point by saying that Mariur far exceed Seid in terms of character. Toribiong far exceed Chin based on his platform. End result..Toribiong and Mariur is ahead.

Like some of you, the debate will end at primary and we may see Surangel & Toribiong at the final race. That is what I hear at the grassroots level. What about you?

Based on that survey conducted by Tia Belau, Surangel beats both JT and Chin hands down with regard to being the candidate most people trust. Trustworthiness will be the key issue in this election. When it comes down to it in the end, can we really trust the teams of JK/?, JT/KN and Chin/Seid? Too many questions of impropriety surround JT and Seid thus canceling out their teams. JK is still a toss-up but it depends on who Surangel chooses as his running mate. This will be the most crucial campaign decision that he makes. I am holding out hope for Dr. Kuartei or Dr. Tellei.

PEACE....

I'm not sure HK..

I thought JT/KM the right choice concerning the present dilema our economy's moving. If you'v seen KM during commitee hearings, you'll understand his meticulous handling of each.

Oketol is right in his analysis, but moving forward to that shining moment in time cant be done in a day. The saying.."A house divided against itself cannot stand"..defines and describes OEK.

At present, each member of OEK neither cared nor value the other's point of view. We understand this since there's no political parties involved in the system. Members formed their coallition through kingship, frienship, and perhaps mutual interest. This explained why some of the leaders can't reach far enough to fulfill their goals/objectives or satisfy the people.

We can always argue who's the right person or who's who in our political system. It won't solve the existing crisis in our gov or economy. Not until we form political parties, not until we become aware that business and politics don't mix..then just maybe, Oketol's golden path may come within our grasps.

KM may have done a thing or two to warrant payback to gov, but who hasn't? We've all been frisked by our gov one way or another in the past.. and vice versa. Plus, KM has always been/is against TR's administration ever since day one. What can one person do when most colleagues turned deaf ears and blind eyes..ah you know what I'm talking about.

ak kuk mocha mengedecheduch el sasai..

Positive and interesting feedbacks!

Should we choose or deny the "one ticket" team for the presidency?

Isn't this one of the initiatives that we'll be voting on?

Dr. Kuartei has my respect and I totally agree with his views on how our leaders should serve our home and people, therefore, he'll definitely get my vote if selected as a candidate, however, I prefer that he continue doing what he does for he's probably the best in that field, since Dr. Yano, Dr. Roberts, Dr. Ueki and Dr. Ueda have retired and or managing their own private clinics. Sen. and Dr. Otto who has retired and entered the political arena has gained the trust of the public from his humbleness and trustworthiness as well. His experiences in leadership within the medical fields provides the required skills to be a committee chairperson in health care services in our congress or an administration. In fact, I think he's going to introduce a health care insurance plan that is similar to what New Zealand offers to its people.

Again these are just my views and thank you for the feedbacks as we continue to learn and share with each other our ideas. After all, it's our home and ourselves that will have an impact on how we cast our votes.

On a side note: The practice of recall has been once conducted and I hope we'll utilize it again if our elected leaders fail to serve the best interest of our Belau and people.

Sulang!

who the hell is kerai..can somebody post his pics here so we know at least what he looks like..he better be better looking than johnson...

hey all, i really like what Imelda and the Voices stand for. can anyone tell me who, among all presidential candidates, supported Imelda in the last senate race to replace Johnny? Whoever it is has my vote because i believe Ngerelmud was built for the people. thank you

I talked to Palauan living in California they are going to vote for VP Chin because Senator Seid knows how to respect People in Palau and he doesn't look down on any body. They are saying regarding his past they are still going to vote for Chin because Senator Seid a meduch el mengul ra ngii dil chad ra Belau. You can take this to the bank that VP and Senator Seid will win the election with big margin.

And who gives you the right to call people tedobech? Other ministers may appear to have or recruit better educated personnel but what about their overall job performance. Don't they all suck and what makes you think everything will be perfect under a new and anti-KN/TR administration? Sorry to disappoint you but for me, I don't understand why Truk renamed itself Chuuk when in fact it is all the same old one shit! This debate should be about who, among all candidates, will make things better than what it is today and I believe any one of them can do.

The fact that JT chose to defend that oriental pimp who was charged for importing prostitution during the period in which he had already declared to run for president and merely for a few more bucks tells me that, as president, JT will defend all crooks in town and he/they will win because he's got the brains to manipulate the courts.

I agree Hazime was a good leader, but Chin is the boss and Seid knows that too. I don't like Seid either but at least he chose to be on the good side while KM chose to be bad but that is if he was ever good initially.

However, I like what I am hearing from Oketol for stressing the importance of the issue of trust and for that, I am anxiouly waiting for SW or even JK before I decide who's the man.

Chebuul'chad,

bo bii a tekoi. Are you suggesting JT is dumb? naive? If a carpenter asks for a nail, you know why he's asking for it. Why then confuse yourself..and maybe others..with remarks that only high shcool children comes up with?

All other candidates had the chance of making big difference in this present havoc ruining everyones lives. Whether it be in the environment, economy, health, tourism, salaries, education..etc. Why then are they trying to convince us today they are different? that they can make changes when they had the chance in the first place?

In addition..perhaps unlikely but I must voice it out, is the reckless legacy by the present leadership. I'm inclined to believe these "old sails" may not have the guts to make any changes that befits all. Know why? It's their lagacy too.

JT's a newcomer. I would say he see things different. May not be suaded by any of the "old sails" should he comes into power. He knows how to play the "pointing-finger" game. He's humble, but not that humble to pardon convicts.

The point is..he brings a new vision into the political arena. I may not like it, but I may accept it since its new and different than from what I've seen in the past 7 years.

aika di uldasu, ea ltang ngar ngii a ungil merael mei.....

Actually I'm quite successful where I'm at right now and I have absolutely no interest in Chin's administration should he be the next POTROP. Chin doesn't even know me nor any of his supporters in here. I know him through his website where I registered my name so he can figure out for himself who the hell am I. I call myself chebuul simply to speak and stand for some of my chebuul family and others in Belau. I have been engaged in few heated debates in here and on the Bridge forum and am feeling satisfied and confident I've fired some bullets thru some sardine heads here and fired back as well.

I am quite aware of the problems that exist in MOJ and the other areas so please don't call me empty head. This is election year so it seems to me Chin is being squeezed on all corners when we know he doesn't have the resources to fight all injustices in the whole world BY HIMSELF! One of them is Human Rights violation issue that Peter Moran brought up from jail, which I think JT is behind all the way! Hello..do we want all prisoners in Subelek farm?

However, I am still waiting for SW and JK to reveal their running mates before I make my decision. But at this time, I still think Chin is the best candidate and I think he'll make a better leader as president than a MOJ. And that's my own view whether you like it or not.

LOL! That's more like it!

Eng di...ng dirkak obichii a disech er a kles el lius..ng dirk dmak. Ke becherei..

Anyway..its good to know your positive side of the story. We all haven't made up our mind, that's why we gather here voicing our opinions. Reading most bloggers opinion in here may help shed lights of whom to choose comes election day.

Btw, by nature..I never degrade nor label another person beneath rocks or trees.

thx

Hello, all bloggers ... never happened and never will, two candidates from Babelthaup w/out any Peleliuan, No way!!! Chin from Peleliu and Seid from Koror, all the way. Believe Me!!!!
