Hey Broth, you've done good and it takes a lot of heart to do what you've done. Keep up the good spirit.

Man! You just waist time and money especially palauans....If not qualified dont even waist our time because time is money for our poor government.....I bet the time our Gov spent to investigate probably cost at least 20K+ that could have paid some poor palauan who wants a JOB.....

Are you trying to be like Chin?....LOL....Thats so sad....

Navarro, don't loose your dreams of coming home to serve, please. And, thanks a million!

Now, to you ShietZ, Ollei/E Kau, I feel sorry for you based on your comments. And, what is wrong with Chin? Look at him right now and how far he has come! You should try and learn something from him! But, then again, may be "Mechut Lulach" is you cup of tea?

Have a nice one...

Brien,

The Anguar Governorship is up for grabs.

Why not put in your for WRITE IN.

he didn't meet the requirements when it comes to residency, so how can he run for the governorship? Brien, if you really want to serve your country and your people, it is time that you move back to Palau. For what i understand you have to be 25 yrs & up of age and at least 5 yrs residence of where you wish to run for any public office. Good luck and wish that someday I will be casting my vote for you.

brien,

it's a shame,
you would have been one of the very few candidates i'd have NO hesitation in voting for.
i hope to vote for you in the future.
good luck.

Uab, nice name! Yes, am aware of the governship but the Candidates now seeking the office are not only related to me, they are much, much older. Thus, rather then compete with them, I will assist whoever wins. Bottom line, must always be respectful.

Berta, it is funny how the Court ruled in my case. On one hand, it said that I am a Resident of Angaur and have been for all of my life. On the other hand, it said that I did not meet the 5 year residency requirement to run for a senate seat. Yes, kind of hard to figure it out. Again, bottom line, it seems that in our Homeland, there are different rules for different folks although we are talking about the very same rule. Rest assured, now that I can not seek a Senate seat, I will still be pening a law office to practice law full time there. There are many, many ways to help our Homeland and I will do so with what I do best, practicing law. Just wait and see.....

Sulang to the both of you and have a nice weekend.

Our Chin's Up, I truly appreciate your comments but hang it there, it shall be a nice ride here on end for our Homeland. Like I mentioned to Berta, there are many, many ways to help our Homeland and I am not about to jump ship. Without sounding high "maka maka," as we said in Hawaiian, I happen to know a thing or 2 about laws. It shall be used for a very good purpose. However, before that happens, I have several laws I need to see put in place, i.e., an open government and tax payer lawsuit for wasteful governmental spendings. Now, we are talking. So, hang in there!

Sulang,

argh! brien! your response to me and others is the exact reason why it's such a shame you won't be representing us soon. we truly need movers and shakers with good ideas, the brains to back them up, and the leadership traits like you to help lead our country. i'll keep hanging in there and hoping that others like you can bring our country to a more prosperous future!

Brien,

I am sorry that things did not work out for you this time around. It is some what an oxymoron when you think about what "prior residency" ultimately was meant to solve or represent. Perhaps the premise was that if you live 5 years in Palau prior to the election that you understand the issues that effects the lives of Palauans and that is the irony.

Anyway, I ask you to join us as we attempt to form an NGO that is trying to assist in the "operationalization" of the People's Platform, our Constitution. Post election assit us in the incorporation of this NGO.

Thanks.

Steve Kuartei

Brien, I can see you are not a lying, greedy, power and sex monger/atty like Johnson Toribiong. Keep this in mind and you'll win the presidency in your first try in the future.

Doc, my DEAR FRIEND, nice to hear from you. Not to be sorry as you and I both know, pursuit of dreams and aspirations sometimes takes a detour. What makes me sad is that some of our Fore Fathers who wrote this beautiful document we call our Constitutions had the fore sight to see that, in the furture, Palau will have some of her children outside who would like to help ASAP. Some of them not only participated in the drafting of the Constitution but eventually became members of the first OEK. Interestingly enough, like me, they were residing (so to speak) in Saipan. Anyways, as you love to remind me (and I could not agree with you more), do not dwell in the past. Life must and should go on!

Now, as to the NGO, please count me in and my services are free! After all, what are friends for? Just tell me what you need me to do and what not. Between now and the end of the year, I will be toning down my practice here and concentrate more in Palau. I will call you and let see what can be done.

Sulang as always my FRIEND.

Our Chin, what you just said is the very essence of why I fought the fight with the help of some very, very nice and brilliant people. Not only was I fighting for those of our Children outside of Palau like myself and still consider Palau as their home, but for those also in Palau who are deserving of opportunities, i.e., beches lulach. As such, I am of the opinion that this coming election is of the utmost importance in setting a new course with new Leaderships. It is quite apparent that the past 15 years have not been what could have been. Like the old saying goes, "one must not go to the source of the problem for solutions."

At least we, as the people of Palau, have figured out our problems. Now, we need to come up with the solutions. And, what more to ask for then to start with this coming election.

Sulang and hang in there...sometimes, the glass is not half empty, it is half full.

Sulang...

Brien, Belau also needs Beches Lulach lawyers as well like yourself, Dengokl, Oldiais, Quay, Uduch and other nonmanipulative, respectable lawyers. If any of you run president someday, you got my vote. I will never vote for someone who is in the race merely to mess up our COFA trust fund, which is the main reason Mechut Lulach Johnson Toribiong will never quit! I will vote for JT only when the Compact money is completely gone.

DownTown, thanks so much for you vote of confidence and kind words. Be assured, I will keep the same in mind. Now, given that I will not be able to be a Public Servant, regretfully, I along with you and many others can still make some much needed changes we feel are necessary for a better Homeland for us and the generations to come. However, we first need to have several laws in place in order to do so, including holding these public officials fully accountable, i.e., personally liable for illegal spending of public funds. Getting these laws passed, laws such as an open government and also tax payer lawsuits will not be easy I gather. But, if there is a will, there is a way!

So, hang in there and let us see what happens.

Sulang

I am very proud of you and the love you have shown us towards our island and the people. Very few will stand while others only regret. You have made a fan out of me and that I will support you in the future if you decide to live and run for any office back home.

Sus leko er kau....

Mesulang,

If I read this correctly, Brian, you would not be able to run for political office in 2012. Is this what the court is saying?

Brien, your love for palau can't be put in to words. I know you as a brother and a family. but you can't be in two places at one time. It is time you think of moving to palau. We need your kind to help our government and especially our people. Your are our future leader probably future president. Love you and hope u think of coming down to live in Palau.

Perhaps, with your qualifications, you would accept a post in the new administration - whoever may win the election.

Brien,
Its good to see that some people will abide by the decision of the Courts and move on with things.

It is a good show of character and that you have, while going through this process, showed that we can make our existing laws stronger by questioning the integrity of the law and its original intent, and then agree with the outcomes of our judiciary.

We, the citizens of Palau make our laws stronger by abiding by them and I see that you are one to make the laws stronger.

I heard that you were planning on moving permanently to Palau and I do hope to see you around town.

Also, hope to see you in 2012.

Mosisecheklak, Edal a SW, Close but yet so far, NPD, and Mardingaol, where do I even begin to say just how much I truly, truly appreciate your comments. Reading them brought tears to my eyes and still am while writing this post and just having put my Grandson to sleep. Please, please accept my deepest heart-felt "sulang" from the bottom of my heart. Let me further say that your comments just made the fight that much more fulfilling and worth the time. As I had said prior to the court decision, regardless of the outcome, I knew deep in my heart that I had won on a personal note base on the love and respect of our Homeland and her People. Regretfully, with a stroke of a pen, my life's dreams and ambitions went down the tube, so to speak. From the looks of things, I may not even be qualified to seek a public office in 2012, i.e., less then 5 years away. And, by 2016, I will be 54 years old if I live that long. I would prefer to see the younger generations ("Beches Lulach") have their turn and let us "Mechut Lulach" or would be "Mechut Lulach" step aside.

Having said the above, let me further say that as a Man who storngly believes that things happen for a reason, I am not sad. There is a reason somewhere and I aim to find it. But, then again, may be I already have. So, respectfully, please allow me to say this: I am after all an Attorney who happens to know a thing or 2 about the laws. Thus, having failed to help via the public arena, rest assured, I will do so in my private capacity. We all, in our different ways, need to make our Homeland a better place for us and the future generations to come. I have every intention of contributing like all of you. As such, I am aiming at opening my office there in Palau hopefully by the end of this year if not the begining of next year.

In closing, let me again thank each and every one of you for your vote of confidence. It is one thing to win/loose a court case, but it is even better when you win a friend and gain the respect of another. This is the ultimate prize and, in that sense, again, I think I did okay.
