Just like our constitution that no foreigner to own a land in Palau. There's always a twist in the law, the owner of MBTV can just put a Palauan name on the ownership then they keep on Rollin'.. I don't know why is Sen Diaz a hater. I remember long time ago when he was still a DJ on a new radio station and he was against then Sen. Masang being a chairman of communication's commitee. Now he just stepped on his own togue. What goes around comes around....

God bless Belau er Kid

Here we are trying to bring in investors to get back on track from the slumping recession. And Diaz is trying to cut some jobs and chase away investors. A twisted and self serving idea....
The public is slow to catch up with DJ Diaz, but they will eventually. And when they do, he will loose everything including his voice......

We need variety in the media. A lot of people think that what is on the air is the truth, if we take my aunties as examples. They believe everything Diaz says because its on the airwaves. Somebody else should come up with their own talkshow (radio or TV). Too long has this 'rush limbaugh' been going on and on spreading his point of view like a virus through the radio.
Yes, self-serving & twisted is he.
Somebody start a petition and let me sign
on the dotted line!

Yes, Mr. Mental himself, Alfonso Diaz---Raised on American Soil, lived life behind a radio set, pretending to have been in combat, lying about his Vietnam service record, eagerly drawing Military Retirment and benefits from the U.S., anxiously awaiting his U.S. Social Security, pretending to be a Palauan but is he really? Does he set good examples for our youth with his arrogance, lies and ranting over his radio station? Well, let's ask our Historians or our Clergy and see how they "grade" him and his antics--never graduated EVEN ONE College, an admitted law breaker, never had a stable family life and now, he wants to ruin our communications freedom by "inspiring" us on our Palauan Pride--yeah, what a Palauan he is, what a statesman, what a patriot--let's see what is the next law he spits on and makes a mockery of. Like a stalk of bamboo--he just changes and bends with the wind

As i said yesterday, i really, really do not understand why a lot of people are not outraged by Diaz's bill that is purported to eliminate the competition. I really, really do not understand why a lot of people are not outraged by his overt arrogance in not only the introduction of this bill, but his asinine comments on his show last week speaking in banana English in his claim that the people of OTV could hear what he had to say. I really, really do not understand why a lot of people are not outraged by his arrogance and his selfish action as a senator. Is it because a lot of people voted for him to be one of our senators? Is it because a lot of people are just plain stupid, or ignorant or both and therefore do not see beyond their nose to notice that what Diaz is doing is bordering on insanity? Everyday he is on the air and has in fact indoctrinate many people to not only believe him, but also support him and would probably die for him...leng temla kolii a dechil a Diaz.
February 16, 2009 at 06:13 PM
there goes the 'Cry baby himself' whining again and again. that's what he does best...politics...dumber than a door knob.
February 16, 2009 at 06:40 PM
I heard that Diaz employs two filipina's at his station. And, OTV, on the other hand, employees 5 Palauans. Hmmmm. Interesting comparison.

February 16, 2009 at 07:29 PM
this is a useless discussion. nobody is going to vote otv out of palau when they started television here. these people deserve honorary citizenship not deportation. diaz, get a life!
February 16, 2009 at 11:13 PM
I do not understand what Bukitang was saying or whom was he or she or shim referring to as a "Cry baby himself." Then the comments by think2x saying that this is a useless discussion is somewhat shortsighted. This apparent lackadaisical behavior and the apathy on the part of a number of our people is the very reason why a number of the leaders in Palau are screwing the very people who elected them. Look at what the president of the senate is doing by disallowing cameras in the senate chamber and yet no one seems to care about his action. I think this is rather pathetic, but then again, I am perhaps part of the minority. At least I am happy I did not vote for both Mlib and Diaz otherwise I would be disheartened for four long years........ked meral chebuul.

Given the new roster of lawmakers, i doubt this will even pass second reading with that provision in....If they do, then we all have something to worry about....SOCIALISM!!!!!

We need another petition started to remove this guy from the OEK. His behavior has gotten worse and worse and this time we definitely can get enough votes. Even my Aunties are starting to see the truth behind Senator Diaz. Bekai, I am equally as outraged as you are and I know hundreds of people who feel the same and would be willing to sign on the dotted line already. Just add up all of the supporters of Chin-Seid as well as Tommy and Ada's supporters and the fans of OTV and we've got more than enough. Where's Ann Singeo? Let's do this! How many of you are on board?
February 17, 2009 at 12:07 PM
"The bill said that the use of radio communication devices mainly in the VHF and UHF bands and a number of radio stations including fixed and broasdcasting stations has increased significantly"
That's bullshit, the reason why it is called VHF and UHF is that you can have hundreds and hundreds of radio and television channels. What radio or television station would hog a wide range of frequencies?
Also devices such as hand radio and towards aircraft radios have assigned set of frequencies that they must operate, deviating that violates international safety regulations in radio telecoms. If they want to make a bill at least get their facts straight.
February 17, 2009 at 04:32 PM
Anti Diaz, I'm on board with 62 ready to sign that dotted line.

In Tia Belau this week there was an article about Diaz and all the cases filed against him. The trial dates for all of these cases are soon approaching - let's see how much support the Senate President and President Toribiong give him. I highly doubt they'll be in the seats behind him during any of these trials. I for one would like to sit in on at least one of the trials - just to see Diaz squirm - let's see if Diaz can convince the judges that's he's not guilty on ANY of the charges! Fat chance Mr. Chairman of the Credentials Committee!! For all you Diaz listeners: break out the violins because you know what he'll be whining about once the trials get on their way!
goodbye diaz |

Good things about Diaz:
1. Voice is sexy
2. In touch with his feminine side
3. Very brave
4. Speaks his mind
5. Business man
Bad things about Diaz:
2. Getting too greedy
3. Abuses his power
5. In the Senate
February 18, 2009 at 02:59 PM
How many radio stations are there in palau? How many television networks?? Not even a handful. So what is up with this bill??? I can only surmise that the man himself wants to be the only "other" choice out there on the airwaves. Chesilech!
February 18, 2009 at 03:25 PM
YES to you mokedau and you know good thing about diaz is hes voice is real smooth i lovvvve it end when he laughs i get so crazy just imagening him laughing. Im really hope one good thing leads to another someday I can become more than just a fun

February 18, 2009 at 03:28 PM
Diaz is going to pay for being a bully and a loudmouth. He thinks his words are little nuggets of gold, not the s-h-i-t they really are.
I wonder if he's going to discuss his current court case on air. I'll be in the audience next time to see him squirm, goodbye diokang!
February 18, 2009 at 03:41 PM
Diaz lover please dont come out. Get back in your coconut hut keep your coconut desires to yourself.
goodbye coconut |
February 18, 2009 at 04:02 PM
seems like diaz lives in la la land....he's either so stupid or he's so oblivious to reality. which one is it....does this guy even have a clue......
February 18, 2009 at 07:50 PM
I am glad people are starting to see the arrogance, the stupidity, and the condescending attitude of Diaz and are now echoing their feelings toward him. At least there are a few people in Palau who are smart enough to see the psycho who was elected for the second time who feels that he is the answer to all of our problems. Those who are still defending him, well, in every crowd there is bound to be someone who cannot see beyond his or her nose. Mlib and Diaz are destroying the integrity of the senate and they are riding on their own air of arrogance that the do not care if they step on us as the on their regular crusade.....to ignore the law, to ignore the feelings of others, and to ignore what they claimed during their campaign. The question then becomes, when will others who are still considering Diaz as a leader would come out of their rut and begin to realize his destructive ideologies.
February 18, 2009 at 08:33 PM
if you really want OTV then go watch it OTV.
It's not even on the internet like Diaz.
I can listen to Diaz when I am away from home.
February 18, 2009 at 09:26 PM
actually otv is on the internet. i just found out. check them out at www.oceaniatv.net and there is a link that says watch online. free. kind of impressive.
i think the american kids who started the whole concept are terrific. don't know them personally but i have heard so many good things. would be sad to loose their contribution.
February 19, 2009 at 03:34 AM
Darn, OCT online requires me to download Quicktime software, would be nice if they used a flash media alternative instead of Apple's hindering apt.
That is one thing that the bill does not cover from reading it on Mariana Variety online, internet media. Boohoo, missed a big one.
Another thing I also don't get with this bill is that we are trying to be friendly with the U.S and foreign investors/aid, yet this bill pushes them away.
And if a Palauan wants to open up his or her media, few to none will be able to do it by themselves without outside or foreigner assistance, be it a tech or an electronics specialist (or financially assisted).
Bad bill, senseless and poorly thought out.
February 19, 2009 at 04:43 AM
maybe otv owners should leave just to teach us all a lesson. that will be one group of foreigners we will be sure as hell sorry we chased out. can we write a letter to the senate president and copy all the senators supporting otv and circulate it for signature. anyone know how to do that online? got a shortlist (but long) already.
ready, set, action! (isn't that what they say ....???)
February 19, 2009 at 06:19 AM
I rather watch otv online than listen to Diaz.
OTV can you please make the videos a little bigger?
i miss home too |
February 19, 2009 at 08:08 AM
action, i'm liking your idea to find out all the senators that support OTV....
February 19, 2009 at 08:13 AM
President JT will either sign or veto this bill in the end whom we suspect will give us his reasons either way. I would like to think JT and his cronies don't necessarily have to agree on everything otherwise we will all be assuming their judgements are all misplaced and self-serving!
All elected officials are leaders and for now I can't tell who among them is Mr. Right but I can say this, TR and SW jr have my support. If JT is man enough to divorce himself from Diaz, I will stop all my negativism.
February 19, 2009 at 09:22 AM
somebody please give the chomorro-diaz some drug test 'cos crack kills. he has all the symptoms of meth-head along with crack addict....
February 19, 2009 at 09:46 AM
AGAIN AND AGAINA AND AGAIN YOU ALL STILL HATING DIAZ! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GUYS! WHY DON'T YOU ALL TRY AND BE LIKE DIAZ I KNOW DEEP DOWN IN YOUR HEARTS YOU ALL LIKE HIM...HAHA. I KNOW MOST OF YOU WERE ALL CHIN/SEID FANS AND DIAZ CHOSE TO SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT ELECT. GET OVER IT CHIN/SEID LOST THEIR BOTH HIDING IN THEIR LITTLE HOLES HAHA. GO BACK TO YOUR WHOLES! HAHA..GO DIAZ GO! DIAZ FOR PRESIDENT!
February 19, 2009 at 12:03 PM
yes diazman i support you. i believe chin and seid both never graduated college. does anyone know?
February 19, 2009 at 12:07 PM
Chin graduated from University of Hawaii. I don't know about Seid.
February 19, 2009 at 12:41 PM
One does not have to guess where Diazman and Otoil's heads are buried at what part of Diaz's body. Whatever heads or pea size brains they both have is the reason why they are among the number of stupid and ignorant and unsophisticated people who support Diaz.ma ker a kmo temla kolii a dechil alechub eng keskelel. I do not know about others, but I did not support Chin/Seid team and this is the very reason why I am concerned about what this a-hole is doing or saying. This is not an issue of whether someone supported Chin/Seid or not, but rather on the basic fundamental rights of the people who elected him including you. So if the two of you are morons, you have a right to be a morons; if you are stupid, you have a right to be stupid, but for him to even suggest much less introduce a bill to do away with other media outlets here in our country is bordering on communism and thus a violation of one of the fundamental rights. Unfortunately, the two of you have your heads buried in Diaz's ass to know what is right, what is proper, what is sensible, and what is not. And your reference to their absence from the inauguration, that is their right and their choice so if they did not show up, what is wrong with that. As for Otoil's question regarding Chin and Seid's education, I am not sure about Alan's, but for Chin, he would not have ascended to the rank of Lt.Col of US Army without college degree....but since you are probably uneducated, you did not know that.
February 19, 2009 at 12:58 PM
LOL!!! Wow bekai,
February 19, 2009 at 01:57 PM
Alen did not complete college, but he's richer than any of you. look at Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Richard Branson, both drop-out at 19 years old. college does not make you successful - you make yourself.

Wednesday, 16 July 2008 (Marianas Variety)
SEN. Alfonso Diaz admitted guilt to the assault citation against Roll ‘em Production and OTV owner Jeff Barabe.
According to court records Diaz only July 7 went to the courthouse and admitted guilt to the citation and paid a fine for assault charges.
A criminal citation for assault was issued against Diaz on June 27 and a hearing was supposed to be set on July 16.
The criminal citation was based on the threats he made on Barabe. The police investigated the case.
Diaz sent a threatening email to Barabe which stated, that “ I am very concern about your safety… I do not have any control over some of my supporters, and they might do something stupid without my knowledge. It has happened many times before here in Palau.”
A civil suit against Sen. Diaz is also being prepared.
The OTV owners, said the damages will be sought against Diaz for assauly, defamation, slander and copyright law violation.

I agree aha, but you are comparing fillet mignon to fucking rump roast. College alumnae are better prepared for jobs related to their specific degrees. Yes, I accede that Diaz has made himself, but since this discussion hinges on Diaz's present performance, it appears he's has been found overreaching his position. Where this course of action will lead is more confusion for everyone, because he obviously publicly executed a congressional proposition directly beneficial to himself. His actions, seemingly open the door to more Palauan-owned media networks, but close the door on foreign investment and development, but how many Palauans are poised to take over for OTV? I mean apart from DIAZ? Shit...People from OTV are the shit for coming here, bringing in this much money. I see these people everyday. They contribute more to the fucking Republic than most of my struggling brothers and sisters of Palau...including me. They also offer an alternative point of view from Mr. Diaz. His oratorial deliverances are lacecd with opinion and bias. Other media networks are too...but that's why this shit is on different channels so you can change it. Leave this fucking decision up to your remote..Watch MBTV or OTV...Why the fuck are we arguing about a damn channel. There are so few here that we should be getting more.
