can ex-cons run for public office? and where can i get a copy of the constitution? palau constitution that is!

Mindofmencia- go to OLEKOIPALAU and look under business/organization links, look for 2nd Constitutional Convention website.

Mindofencia,

1. YES, ex-cons can ran for Elected Office at National Government.

2. You can get you Constitution copy at the Clerk of Court or OEK.

3. When you obtain your Costitution copy. You can read the OEK articles that showed candidate requirement. a. Must be Palauan citizen. b. Not less than age of 25 years of age. c. Must be residence of a state or District/whole Palau.

4. You can read case record at Clerk of Court re: Camsek E. Chin verses Senate 6th OEK.

5. Read Bridge-I@hawaii.edu, Quotes "what part of human body cannot enter Senate??? CHIN

I hope it'll help you and sulang..

Yes-Choi,

1. Any qualified Palauan can run for Senate opened seat.

2. On Senate at VP Mlib Tmentuchl side want someone good, experienced to join them to maintain majority leadership. So, as Sen. Surangel side.

3. We the voters wants someone who had high caliber or same as late Pres. Johnny Reklai. For example, In baseball, at 9th innings bottom and the batting team is shy of 3 scores, batter had full count 3 balls and 2 strikes and 2 men down. What do ou expect from team Manager? To change the batter and put low ranking batter or put on the highest of homeRun hitter and high score.

You may decide.

Sulang,

Alii,

Sorry, I missed the part, the batting team had 3 men on bases if manager replace the batter and definitely, he will use the slugger to bat for homeRun to win the game. And the slugger batter hit the first ball homeRun to win the game by 1 score.

Thank you.

Gecko:

Since you brought baseball as your analogy, I suggest we get someone like Martin Sokau to bat (if your old enought to remember him as the clean-up batter for RED TORCH), or someone like Barry. The tragedy with Belau yakyu today is there's no CLEAN UP BATTER-they're all either lead-off or batting at the bottom of the order. Likewise, our politicians today are either big mouths (lead-offs) or just well connected to pluck up the holes. And hell, let us not even talk about our managers. NONE of our Baseball managers have ever played B-Ball with the esception of Kayangel's.

Are't some of our leaders out there in the left field trying to find out what's going on in the game? And when they do, the game is over.

Alii, with the exception of Sandra Pierantozzi as mechut lulach, how about Leilani Ngirturong Reklai. I think the sentate boys need a woman tamer. She is smart, savy, professional, successful businesswoman, etc. WAISEI, LEI FOR SENATE!

Don't vote, so the 8 senators can either do nothing (so we can have peace and less political shits) OR they will be forced to work together to do something at last (that is meaningful for US the people)!!

I am not going to vote, though I prefer my good, dear friend Sandra Pierantozzi!! I misread her bluntness when, during her VP period, she said she doesn't need the VP or govt job. It was not a showcasing of her wealth or some kind of bragging...she meant she was out there on the job to seek good for the people. Should have heard her during the Econ Symposium (feb 2007)- she brought the truth out...there are extremely poor Palauans who cannot afford a decent home! I wonder if these people have enough to buy enough food and provide sufficient nutrition(s) for their kids!

I don't know much about Paul Ueki, but he seems like a very decent man. How is he performing at the Koror State legislature? Anyone with useful intel?

Waisei:
Look beyond the mirage!

Uchelmelis for Senate!!!

Ores is qualified for this position. How about it? We need people there with integrity and love for our people.

I nominate Tina Rechucher. As intelligent as she is, we can count on her.

Omtikl

Mori,
thanks for the vote, but i have no interest in politics! I am a very private wo/man who likes to work in the backstage supporting good causes!

Did u ever go to Belau?

Uchelmelis,
ke kora di smile e udellei? hahaahaa!

How's the advocacy group at the frying chicken stop, SS Mart?

Hhehehee!!!

Ores,
Yes, I did. No place is like home. If you can't run then, Uchelmelis for Senate!!!

Ores, my friend:

There is nothing like being your own boss and where I am I wouldn't trade it for any government offices. I just hope the weather stays calm and clear in the coming months (april and may).

The bentos are going very well thank you. Someone said that there are only two sure things in life, tax and death, but I would add BLENGUR too. At the rate the bentos are going I am not surprise that we are in the top ten in the obesety department.

Boats are coming gotta run for now.

Emaid,

What do you think of Shallom Etpison? Doesn't he make a good sanatorial candidate?

I am leaning towards Ores and Omtikl's comments. Over the years we Palauans have allowed men to run our country to the ground. I think it's the fact that we Palauan men are supposed to be tough and that we are supposed to make decisions with out emotions when it comes to the supposedly well being of our beloved country. Just like the story of Bersoech ra Elechui when the men paddling the canoes kept telling that old lady to wait for the next canoe. One after another did the same thing until there was no one left to give her a ride.

Tough decisions needed to be made and becasue these men were only concerned for only the well being of the people in their own family resulted with one of the daughter of Uab being left behind.

I believe if it was a women chief who has experience of raising and caring from being a mother that she would have never let this happen to that old lady.

With proper education and experience to lead and at the same time know the value of raising a child with tender loving care makes this two women extremely qualified to lead our country out of the mess our men has created for us.

All you Palauan women rise!

Sandra Pirantozzi for President! Tina Rechucher for vice President!

Not so fast Mosi!! I still have not garnered the necessary names on the petition for my dog,Butch, yet!!!!

Osiik and Badrulchau,

Thanks for the info. Very resourceful. Although I agree with Emaid, I like Mosi's "All Palauan Women Rise" candidates.

I VOTE FOR TINA REHUHER MARUGG AS WELL! SHE IS THE MOST QUALIFIED AND INTELLIGENT WOMAN OF PALAU> UNFORTUNATELY VICKY KANAI IS THE CURRENT GOVERNOR FOR AIRAI STATE WE NEED WOMEN IN OUR OLBIIL RA KELULAU... THANK YOU!

Quite rather not vote anyone in at the moment. There are 8 senators who are sitting in OEK and yet there are not sufficient number of goods done to the benefit of the country. Rather let the current ones in until the General Election comes instead of putting one more in and I think it would be money saved. Then during the November election, we can sweep out the "tatach" out and keep the "ungil" in. Then we can look into some candidates who will bring good morals and value, the right set of mind, and strong work ethics... to name few attributes of a leader... then put them in the OEK to shake things up and whip the country into shape. In the meantime, we the potential future leaders of our beloved island better further our education and obtain knowledge and skills to run the country upon returning. This is just my opinion. Thanks much!

Gambler...

Klemerang, So with the attributes that you have listed, who would you call the "tatach" and the not so tatach. Just want to know so I don't make the same mistake again;)

Motor,
If I may use this words, really bad "tatach" and mild"tatach". The first one refers to an individual who thinks about himself, gets what he wants regardless of any consequences, and may rationalize it as nothing of course, because they are above the law. the mild "tatach" is too stupid to know the difference. Anyone you know of, who may fall into this category?

Deos anyone out there has anything else to say regarding this very intelligent discussion?

Klemerang & Star,

Now that you have come up with labels, could you then put face s to those labels. Who in the national congress or one who aspires to is/are "tatach" and who do you see as mild "tatach". That would make the discussion worthwile.

Who is/are:
Tatach -
Mild Tatach -

Well... Because this is solely based on my opinion (which is not always correct) I would classify Diaz a Tatach and Santi as Ungil. As far as "mild tatach", I will let Star pick out from the basket. Thanks!

Klemerang, you are as real as they come... now that you have given me this very important responsibity to do, I need a week or two to check my notes. This is not an easy task to do. There are too many to pick from the basket and I don't want to make a mistake.

We have to have humor in life or else the stress in every day living is enough to drive us nut.. The discussion will continue in two weeks.

Klemerang, I will look you up someday to sing in my father's funeral but without choir or bands. We are still too old fashion.

You be sure to contact me... I will sure to be the first to audition for the song... But I charge big money. Lol! Hope to hear from you soon!!!

They're all TATACH, except for Surangel and Dengokl!

They all have dirts... Just like you and me... However, some of them have qualities that far exceeds their shortfallings... as far as the new President of Senate goes... I am sure he'll be a great moderator but I wish he cuts off with his Betelnut Chewing... That's just my opinion...

They can't be all "tatach" There are different kind of "tatach". I'm not done with my research paper yet.

Haha... I like you... Hey you should read and reply to what BELAU had said about "us" and the website as well...

Omtikl and Ores,

There are a number of well-qualified ladies who could be considered for the senate this coming general election. Miriam Chin, Valeria Toribiong, Louisa Olkeriil, Ernestine Rengiil, Priscilla Subris, Rosemary Skebong, Fuana Rengulbai, Julie Tellei, Imelda Nakamura, Bernie Kelderman, Tina Rechucher, Vicki Kanai, Sandra P. and others. The first two ladies may not seek any elective office because their husbands are already contemplating of running for the highest office. If you really want to see good female running mates, please do not look any further. The above list includes some of Palau’s intellectuals and a paragon of well-respected ladies, who possess different leadership attributes as exemplified thru their respective fields. They are also prominent, law abiding citizens. They could balance any presidential ticket geographically. For example, Ms Olkeriil has roots in Peleliu and Koror( Meyuns and Ngerbeched) Ms. Rengiil-- Keyukl and Airai, Ms. Outspoken Subris—Ngaraard, Ms. Rechucher ( Ngerchelong and other states) Julie Tellei (Asahi), etc. Some of these ladies have a lot of relatives throughout Palau.

What do you think?

Sulang,

Naiiro

Naiiro,

Tirkal rokui akmal lungil. Akoro chomdasue elkmo kelelungil alebong a chimol redil ma chimol sechal ra kot ma chongerul dechruall and the restjoin the senate race.

Although I don't know them personally, Rechucher and Kanai would be my choices.

Omtikl

Omtikl,
That would be totally fine with me, I would like to see more women holding important elective office. Your choice is excellent. No doubt they would make wonderful senatorial candidates. If we elect them, they would provide us
a decent leadership with honesty and integrity, which we really need at this juncture of our political history. They also could run as anybody's
running mate for 2008, They are talented and very capable, and of course they would lead us by example. I have
only heard all good things about them, not a single negative item in their basket. So with their popularity, intelligence and impeccable reputation and charming beauty, both literally and figuratively, they could be formidable candidates against their male couterparts. Not only that they have proven leadership skills, and don't forget this, they are articulate.

Alii,

This evening I watch the welcoming ceremony of Hokule'a from NECO Marine dock at Malakal area.

First, Dr. Patrick Tellei, Chief Oukerdeu of Ngeriyelb, Ngermid Hamlet, Koror State. He was brilliant and he missed few but okay. I only wish and hope that he use his wisdom to problem.

Secondly, upon arrival of the long voyage of Hokule'a and ceremony. The Paramount Chief Ibedul made a very well vibrant speech in welcoming master navigator Nailoa and Cesario by strengthening our traditions and heritage.

Follow by master navigator Nailoa. His speech was from the bottom of his heart to revitalized, re-connect, strength our island traditions and heritage. He made challenge to all of us the influence of foreigner had arrived in our islands. But we remain to know who you are? Where you are? He said, in Hawaii in about 200 years ago the foreign imposed their ideas to defeat our heritage and traditions. Then in 19_ _, the foreign government passed the foreign laws that they (Hawaiians) must not speak, sing, dance and stopped and his grandma was beaten by her teacher.

MN Nailoa, reminded us that we must educate our children today our traditions and heritage for children of the next generation.

So, did President Tommy Remengesau, jr. but wanted Palau to join the Yapese to share teaching knowledge of navigation.
President wanted us to learn more about the navigation skills from Mao & Cesario.

I close for now cause I am very tired.

I like that Emaid,

Should you come across any events or ceremony in Palau like this in the future, please do the same thing you just did.

Mesulang,

Mosisecheklak,

I watched TV program at Bai ra Amayong. Sen. Alan Seid tried to tell history to bring him up to level to Nailoa Thompson and Tommy Remengesau, jr. for about 45 minutes. Alot of people left while he started to make his speech. So, said that he was not in the program to his speech/story.

President Tommy, jr. and Nailoa Thompson deserved to tell their side of story not Sen. Seid. Honest, I (we) are very tired of "melelolaok" speech and no action. I am sorry I could not tolerate anymore from him, to much. Enough is enough.

Let me add, this afternoon Sen. Diaz said that "we are having problem at Ministry of Finance". Not enough funds to run our government. 1) Closing of Pacific Savings Bank and Daewoo is closing down. Local revenues is decrease tremendously and many small buisness cannot pay their taxes due for month of January to March, 2007. He predicted that funds in National Treasury may not make to September 30, 2007. He said, that Minister of Finance met State governors to explain that funds in finance will not meet our FY 2007 project. Governors were crying that their block grants & stimulus grants from Taiwan were not recieve for 1st and 2nd quarters. Stimulus project will be temporary stop in order to save funds for Salaries until September 30, 2007. Let us all pray andd hope for the best.

Sorry for text writing english.

Thus it begins, and US is pulling it's funds because Palau is doing so well... Who among us can make a difference? Ladies? Anyone?

Kmalungil tial report e Emaidechedui ra Hokulei's ceremony.

It just so happened that I read "The Last Navigator", authored by an American who lived (in Ulithy)with Mao and learned the navigator's skills.

Omtikl
